The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are the latest phones to join the Android Pie crew. While not yet officially available for all, the Pie build arrives as an “open beta” from OnePlus that anyone can dive into if interested.
The open beta includes updates everywhere, since it’s Android Pie. That means a new UI, new navigation gestures (5T only), better background process handling, adjustable do not disturb settings, parallel apps support, and more. To get a feel for what you should expect, watch our OnePlus 6 Pie video below.
Since this is a beta build, you’ll have to do a bit of work to get it on your phone (download and then manually apply it). It’s not a difficult task by any means, just know that once the stable Pie update rolls around, you’ll have to go through a similar manual update process. Each time you do that, you’ll have to fully wipe/factory reset your phone. Keep that in mind.
