The Samsung Developer Conference kicks off today. Normally, we’d casually pay attention to this sort of gathering because no one cares about Bixby and DeX development, but this year could be different. We may finally see the foldable phone that Samsung has been teasing since 1925.
Don’t care about foldable phones? You should, according to phone manufacturers across the globe who are running out of ideas to sell you on and improve margins!
Samsung’s phone will likely just be a tablet that folds into a phone, or a phone that folds out into a tablet. That could be kind of cool, though, assuming it doesn’t cost as much as an iPad Pro (it probably will). Multi-use devices with big screens are fun because we all love watching YouTube, right?
But really, if foldable phones really do not interest you at all, Samsung will also likely talk about Android Pie on its Galaxy line of phones. It should announce a beta program today and tell us how little Project Treble means to them.
The event kicks off at 10AM Pacific (1PM Eastern)! Tim is there, just in case anything cool happens.
