Earlier this year, Google introduced custom stickers in Gboard called Minis. We’ve been playing with them for a bit, but today, Google announced that Gboard is getting the ability to create Mini Emoji, too!
Using machine learning, neural networks, and wizardry, you can create a whole bunch of custom emoji, regardless of what you may look like. Have piercings? That’s supported. Freckles and glasses? That’s fine, too! Once Google’s algorithm gets the basic look of your face, you can then choose a color for your hair, facial hair or different types of head coverings and eyewear. Then it’s up to you to add freckles or wrinkles—a little or a lot—if you’d like. It’s all up to you.
I’m not seeing Mini Emoji in Gboard yet, but it’s coming. Grab the latest Gboard from Google Play to get started.
