Samsung Investigating Galaxy S9, S9+ ‘Dead Spot’ Touchscreen Issue

Owners of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are reporting dead spot issues on their touchscreens, essentially rendering part of their screens unusable. Multiple complaints have been posted to Samsung’s official forum, as well as on reddit. Due to the number of complaints, Samsung has responded with a pretty standard statement, acknowledging the issue, then offering customers a way to reach out if anyone else is noticing the problem.

At this time, we aren’t exactly sure how widespread the issue is, simply because we don’t know how many Galaxy S9 and S9+ devices are out in the wild. While we haven’t had any dead spot issues on our own S9 and S9+ models, we don’t doubt others are having the problem.

Here is the statement from Samsung.

At Samsung, customer satisfaction is core to our business and we aim to deliver the best possible experience. We are looking into a limited number of reports of Galaxy S9/S9+ touchscreen responsiveness issues. We are working with affected customers and investigating.

We must say, a dead spot problem certainly isn’t the worst issue to have. Yes, it’s absolutely annoying and you’ll likely have to be shipped a replacement phone, but at least your phone isn’t exploding due to a faulty battery. 👀
