This morning, OnePlus confirmed through their forums that they have a device on the way and it’s called the OnePlus 5T. Their execs and social media channels have been teasing the phone in various ways (Lolzerpants, haha 5 cups of tea, good one, guys!), but this sets the name in stone.
In the post revealing the name, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau focused his time on their decision to keep a 3.5mm headphone jack in the phone. He said that they make decisions like this based on their “understanding of user needs” and that they don’t think now is the time to remove a feature that 80% of their users use. He mentioned that they could have gone the USB-C route to further slim down this new phone, but that they don’t want to take away their users’ freedom just yet.
There is more in the post about wireless audio and headphone price categories and percentages about what OnePlus users think about audio quality, so if that sounds interesting to you, hit up that link below. I’m just glad that OnePlus is sticking to their guns and listening to users so as to never remove anything that users might want.
Excited for the Oppo R11s OnePlus 5T?
