The above headline is why we try not to hypebeast every single little piece of unconfirmed info. If we did that, these types of reports are all we’d talk about, so we try to only post the stuff we are confident in. The following news is something that aligns with that.
Today, according to South Korea’s The Investor, who reports that they spoke with a Samsung executive and confirmed at least a part of this story, the unveiling date for the Galaxy Note 8 is set at August 23. This follows previous reports that it would be unveiled on August 20, then another report that mentioned late September. As you can see, this date has been quite fluid, with Samsung yet to provide an official date.
As I mentioned, The Investor spoke with an unnamed Samsung executive, who would only confirm that the device would be announced later next month, not provide a specific date. Still, it now looks like an August unveiling, not September.
If you haven’t been following all of the Note 8 news, we recently got a look at CAD renders, which detailed the S Pen slot and dual rear-facing cameras. To my eye, it looks like a slightly bigger Galaxy S8+ with stylus accessory and an additional camera sensor. No major design changes, but whatever improvements Samsung bakes in, I’m sure people will flock to it like hotcakes. Mmm, hotcakes.
If this date changes again, we’ll up date you.
