For folks concerned with bootloaders, make note that the Pixel and Pixel XL from Verizon have had their bootloaders unlocked, thanks to efforts of the Sunshine team and the release of dePixel8. With this somewhat straightforward process, your bootloader is not being automatically unlocked like with other scripts, but instead, dePixel8 is allowing you to bypass the existing security around the bootloader, making the unlock possible.
To sum up the process the best we can, you will install fastboot and adb on your computer. Once all of that is setup and working properly, you will run three commands. During this time, the program is forcefully allowing the unlock of the bootloader, at which point you will type in the “fastboot oem unlock” command (Note: The command may also be “fastboot flashing unlock,” we haven’t tested this method). Once entered, you will see the option for unlocking the bootloader pop up on your Pixel or Pixel XL.
