The Pinterest app on Android is receiving an update this week that introduces Buyable Pins, a feature that arrived on iOS over the summer that allows you to quickly buy the items “you love right in the Pinterest app.” The idea here is that when you find products you want on Pinterest, you shouldn’t have to leave the Pinterest app to get them.
With Buyable Pins, you’ll find some 60 million items that can be bought right from the Pinterest app. They show as blue buttons and make it clear whether or not you can buy an item and at what price. The checkout process happens within the app through a couple of taps, all of which is secure. Companies like Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s and Neiman Marcus are already on board, along with “thousands” more through platforms like Shopify and Demandware.
Along with Buyable Pins, Pinterest is also launching the Pinterest Shop. This new Shop is the “best of Pinterest” and features hand-picked collections from popular brands and small boutiques.
All of this new-ness arrives this week on Android.
