We have been stressing the importance of Samsung to release a kick ass flagship phone for the year of 2015, especially after the disappointing Galaxy S5 and the poor financial year that followed for the company. Basically, this is Samsung’s opportunity to get back in the ring with Apple, not just in smartphone sales, but with regard to the brand’s image as an OEM in the eyes of consumers.

According to a report from Ars Technica, who has a source close to Samsung, the company’s Galaxy S6 will feature two variants – one which looks like a Galaxy S5 in overall design, and another (presumably called the Galaxy S6 Edge) that the company will base most of its marketing on throughout the year of 2015. The latter device will feature two rounded edges on the left and right sides of the display, which aligns with previous reports and rumors.

While Samsung is claimed to market the GS6 Edge the most, over the regular variant of the GS6, it is reported that the company is currently having yield issues with the display, possibly leading to supply constraints. Given that this is Samsung’s first device that will feature such a display – the Note Edge only features one side with a rounded display – it is no surprise that the company may run into a few issues when making. Although, it is also stated that these supply issues could be ironed out before it affects any customers who are attempting to purchase the device.

Lastly, one piece of information may hurt a few people’s hopes of buying the device, as it is reported that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will feature insane off-contract prices. For the Galaxy S6, Ars Technica reports that the phone is listed at $849, $963, and $1,076 for the 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB models respectively. These prices are what Samsung will sell the phones for to carriers, and have also been converted from Euros, meaning they could fluctuate a tad. More startling are the prices for the GS6 Edge, which is reportedly listed at $1,076 for the 64GB version and $1,189 for the 128GB model.

Do note, the highest priced iPhone off contract, which is the 128GB SIM-free iPhone 6 Plus, is listed at $949. If Samsung goes to market with those prices, they would have one of the highest priced smartphones on the market, which we would hope they can back up with the quality of hardware and the software experience.

After digesting this information, and possibly taking a cold shower, let us know if your plans have changed regarding your thoughts on buying a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge.
