The date is September 26 (well almost), and the Moto X (2nd generation) is available from Verizon, only a day later than sources of ours from two months ago told us to expect it. The device is available for $99 with a new 2-year contract, $24.99 per month on Verizon Edge, or $499 at full retail for the black plastic back. Verizon is currently listing the black plastic or white Bamboo models as available directly from them, but we are expecting to see Moto Maker integration before long, likely at some point later in the day. The Bamboo model carries a bit of a price premium.
The new Moto X is an improvement over last year’s model in almost every way possible. The phone has an upgraded 1080p display, better camera, new premium leather options for its back plate, a metal frame, and additional features added into the Moto suite of software. The battery life hasn’t been all that impressive, but if you don’t need a phone to last 20 hours on a single charge or are near a charger in the late afternoon, this is a great option.
