The last we heard of LG’s mid-range G Pro Lite smartphone was at a foreign launch event in December. Despite LG’s silence on the G Pro Lite’s sales performance thus far, the phone must have sold well enough to justify a follow-up. Thanks to a leak, it appears the company is expanding the reach of the phone’s successor, the G Pro 2 Lite, to American shores.
Recently filed FCC documents point to a variant with model number LG-VS880, compatible with Verizon’s LTE bands and CDMA network. The AT&T (LG-D631) version was spotted on LG’s website several weeks ago, and a Sprint (LG-LS885) model was accidentally posted on the carrier’s website in March before promptly being removed.
The phone carries the “lite” designation for a reason. Rumored specifications of the G Pro 2 Lite include a 5.7-inch 720p display, an 8MP rear camera, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. Needless to say, the phone is not going to break benchmark records anytime soon.
There is one exception to the middling components; a 3200 mAh capacity battery. Considering the low power draw of the Snapdragon 400 and 720p display, that would provide hours upon hours of charge, should the rumors prove accurate.
No clue as to when LG plans to launch these devices, but when more information pops up, we will be there.
