Sprint Lights Up LTE in 41 New Cities, Spark in Another 6

The enhanced 4G LTE network from Sprint, named Sprint Spark, along with the company’s regular LTE network, have been lit up in a few new cities this morning. In fact, 41 new cities will now have Sprint LTE, while another 6 will be able to enjoy Spark. The carrier states that Sprint Spark is expected to cover roughly 100 million Americans by the end of 2014, while its regular 4G LTE network is also growing steadily. 

As of the this morning, Sprint’s 4G LTE network is at 443 cities strong, right behind AT&T and Verizon who each sit around 500 markets. According to Sprint’s chief network officer, John Saw, “a time will ultimately come when customer demands for bandwidth, and technology changes with 4G and beyond, will require the kind of platform we now have in place.”

Sprint states that its enhanced Spark network is designed to deliver peak wireless speeds of 60Mbps today on capable devices, with the potential for speeds three times as fast by late next year.
