In a crowded market, Walmart’s Vudu on-demand movie and television service has done little to distinguish itself. Sure, the app has an impressive selection of 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound movies, but what difference does that make when the Android app isn’t the most usable?
Thankfully, it looks like Vudu may be listening to feedback, as an update to the app fixes bugs, improves compatibility for devices with high-resolution screens, and adds Chromecast support.
Vudu may be playing catch-up with Chromecast support – many other streaming services have had the feature for weeks – but the app’s addition is a notable one because of Vudu’s ability to access UltraViolet lockers. If you’ve got a sizable DVD or Blu-ray collection, that may be reason enough to check out the updated app.
On top of the moves by Vudu, Crackle, with is library of HD movies and TV shows also received Chromecast support. In addition, music lovers can grab the updated Rdio application from Google Play, which also brings support for the media streaming HDMI dongle.
Vudu is available for download from the Google Play Store.
