Supposed Galaxy S5 Benchmarks Making the Rounds, 2K Display and 2.5GHz Snapdragon 800

Given that Samsung has a history of releasing its Galaxy flagship phones with crazy-good specs, we thought you might like to know that thanks to GFX Bench, a few of the Galaxy S5 specs might possibly have been outed. A device with model number SM-G900S ran through the benchmarks recently, sporting a few ridiculous specifications that might have jaws drop on the floor. 

For starters, the device is seen running Google’s latest Kit Kat mobile OS (probably topped by TouchWiz), as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz. Although, we still thinks it’s early in the testing phase, and it wouldn’t shock us if Samsung was able to work in the new Snapdragon 805 chipset with the Adreno 420 GPU. What might have more folks excited is the inclusion of a 2K display, packing a resolution of 2560 x 1440. Unfortunately, the screen size is unknown, but it will probably be in the 5″+ arena. Again, with Samsung possibly going for a 2K display, the odds would point to the inclusion of Qualcomm’s newly-announced processor instead of “last year’s” silicon.

When it comes to flagship devices from major OEMs, there is a solid timeline that we have seen played out over and over in terms of leaks. First, rumors start circulating about what specs we might see in the device. Second, the rumored specs become “confirmed” thanks to benchmark sites that the device has been tested on. Third, we start seeing really terrible and blurry shots of a device that could possibly be the device in question, but it’s almost always impossible to tell. Finally, if we are lucky, we get good shots of the device from either the FCC or when @evleaks decides to work his magic and posts up unreleased press renders. So far, it looks like we are right on track.

Either way, as we always say, it’s never to early to start hypebeastin’.
