When the Federal Airlines Administration first set the rule that stated people were not allowed to use personal electronic devices when a flight was taking off or landing, there was certainly a reason for it. Mobile devices and the airline industry themselves have both come a long way since then, however, and today we can finally kiss that annoying rule goodbye.

In a release today, the FAA said they are allowing passengers to use personal electronics during “all phases of the flight” except for a few “very limited exceptions.” It should be noted that in the release, the FAA still strongly recommends using Airplane mode on your device.  There is no set deadline for when each airline has to start adhering to this change, but Delta has already put together a plan to make the change by tomorrow.
