Verizon Adds Los Angeles to List of 5G Cities

Verizon 5G

Los Angeles is the newest 5G city to go live from Verizon, bringing their current total to 19 5G cities.

Since this is still 5G mmW (“5G Ultra Wideband”) and not the wide-reaching low-band 5G that T-Mobile and AT&T just launched, there isn’t much reach here and we need to tell you exactly where you might catch a 5G signal from Verizon. According to Big Red, you should see 5G “in parts of Downtown, Chinatown, Del Rey, and Venice around landmarks such as: Grand Park, Los Angeles Convention Center, Union Station, LA Live, Staples Center, and Venice Beach Boardwalk.” That’s it.

Live in LA and want that 5G access? Don’t forget, you’ll need a 5G phone like the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, Galaxy S10+ 5G, LG V50 5G, or the Moto Z4 (with 5G Moto Mod).

At this time, you’ll also need a 5G-equipped plan to get on 5G too. Verizon has a handful of new plans, most of which include 5G access at no charge. However, if you grab one of their lowest plans, 5G access could cost you $10/mo.

Verizon’s initial plan was to light up 30 markets with 5G service in 2019 and they are still short with only a couple of weeks left in the year. Will they get there?
