Before this week’s update, Google Photos liked to tag faces all on its own in your People & Pets album. For the most part, it does a fine job at correctly identifying people in your life, but sometimes, the system doesn’t work. For example, I have baby photos of myself in my library and Photos doesn’t know it’s me because, well, it’s baby me.
First detailed by Android Police, an update in Google Photos will now let you manually tag faces in any photo, so long as the app can confirm there are actual faces in the photo. The app won’t let you go around tagging faces in photos that have no faces, which makes sense.
If you need to go tag some faces, have at it.
