After yesterday’s November Android update arrived on the Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 4, we assumed that the lack of Pixel or Pixel XL updates meant the end of the road for the original. Today, we’re learning that there will be one final update in December. It’s not over, folks!
According to a statement from Google provided to The Verge, the original Pixel and Pixel XL will see one more update that “encapsulates a variety of updates” from both November and December. After that, though, it’s over.
Google had previously scheduled the Pixel and Pixel XL to no longer receive updates after October 2019, so this is very much a bonus update to clean things up before support is cut off.
Is 3 years of updates enough for Google’s own phones? I’ll leave that debate up to you.
