Google is going to announce a new Google Nest WiFi and Nest Mini next week, along with a freshly spec’d Pixelbook. They’ll fully reveal the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL too. We know all of that because Google has told us about the phones, but also because there have been numerous leaks or trustworthy reporting on the rest of those devices. Today, another report seems to believe that there could be another Pixel 4 model.
According to Nikkei Asian Review, Google has begun testing a 5G version of the Pixel 4. Testing. They could show it off next alongside the other goods or they may wait until some time next year, maybe in the spring. That’s a big window! The device, at least the one currently in testing, is said to run a Snapdragon 855.
Additionally, this report suggests that Google may announce a smartwatch next week at its Pixel 4 event, just keep in mind that there is zero evidence to support a Google-made Wear OS watch is even in the works. But hey, things could happen! The Google Home Max was a surprise device back at the Pixel 2 launch.
My thoughts here are that there is no 5G model or a smartwatch. Sure, Google is probably testing 5G like any modern, large hardware maker should do. I think Google is also exploring smartwatches still, just not seriously. I’m pretty sure we’ll get a Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Nest WiFi, Nest Mini, and Pixelbook Go next week. If there’s a surprise, my guess is that it’ll be new Pixel Buds.
