Fossil Gen 5 Unboxing, First Look, and Tour!

Fossil Gen 5

The Fossil Gen 5 is in the building! As weird as this may continue to sound, I still get excited every time a new Wear OS watch shows up and this one might have me the most hyped. Why? I don’t even know, but Fossil put a lot of good stuff into this watch to help it standout.

To recap, the Fossil Gen 5 is a $295 Wear OS watch that packs everything Fossil could currently pack into a smartwatch. You have the newest Qualcomm chip (Wear 3100), 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, 1.28″ round AMOLED display, speaker, NFC, GPS, heartrate monitor, 3ATM water resistance, and fast charging. While we wish there were a better processor to power it, this is the newest available to work with, plus that 1GB RAM bump should really help with performance.

There are two versions of the Fossil Gen 5 (Carlyle and Julianna), each of which has 3 of its own colorways/strap setups. I went with the Carlyle in “Smoke Stainless Steel” to keep on wrist for a while.

Below, we have a video that tries to cover just about everything. We’ve got an unboxing of the watch, some first impressions, and a full tour of some of its features, as well as a quick comparison to the Fossil Sport and Montblanc Summit 2, two similar 3100 watches.

We’ll have a review up soon!
