Verizon’s 5G will expand to two new cities over the next week: Denver and Providence. The two markets join Chicago and Minneapolis in the 5G world as Verizon hopes to bring the next-gen wireless technology to more than 30 before 2019 ends.
Like those first two 5G markets, Verizon’s 5G network in Denver and Providence is limited to specific areas. Since this portion of the Verizon 5G network utilizes their 5G Ultra Wideband service, customers will have to be extremely close to a 5G cell in order to get a strong, super-fast connection.

For Denver, Verizon says to expect 5G in the areas of Highlands, South of 37th between Tejon and Navajo Streets, LoDo, near Coors Field, Capitol Hill, Northern Sections of The Denver Tech Center, and in the Central Business District around landmarks like the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Sculpture Park, and outside Paramount Theatre.
For Providence, Verizon 5G will be available in parts of College Hill, Federal Hill, Mt. Hope, and near landmarks like Brown University (Erickson Athletic Complex, Wriston Quadrangle), Rhode Island School of Design and Providence College.
To attach to Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network, you’ll need a 5G phone like the Galaxy S10 5G, LG V50, or Moto Z3 or Z4 with a 5G Moto Mod attached. Once you do connect to the network, you should see typical download speeds of around 450Mbps with peaks topping out at 1.5Gbps.
Denver’s 5G goes live today, while Providence will see the lights go on by July 1.
