Is the Mate X Bad?

Our deep dive into whether or not the Samsung Galaxy Fold is bad has led us to a series I’m not sure I signed up, but here we are. Now that the Huawei Mate X and its foldable self is official, we should probably decide if it’s good or bad too.

Let’s do this super serious investigation into the Huawei Mate X. Is it bad?

Having your folded display always exposed both front and back, leaving you constantly worried about the protection of the most important part of a foldable, is scary and bad.

Not having a headphone jack is bad.

Bragging that your foldable phone is 5.4mm thick while ignoring a giant 11mm hump is bad.

Creases are bad.

Doing anything similar to Flexpai’s foldable hinge, which was bad, is bad.

This price is bad.

This demo, where your really, really, really, really, really, really expensive phone doesn’t work or your CEO doesn’t know how to work it, is bad.

Being first-gen almost anything is bad.

The Mate X is probably bad.
