Confirmed this week by The Verge, the Galaxy S10’s dedicated Bixby button can be remapped straight out of the box. Oh yeah! Oh yeah!
If you’ll recall, there has been drama surrounding this hardware button since it first launched on the Galaxy S8. Back then, we’d have to rely on 3rd-party button remapping apps to either reassign the button or disable, but Samsung wasn’t very pleased about those apps. After a while, they offered a dedicated way to disable the button, but not reassign it. Now, it appears Samsung is open to letting owners use the button however they see fit, which is the best way to approach it.

So, if you’d like to press the button to open Google Assistant or Spotify or YouTube or any other app, you’re free to do so. However, regardless of what you map the button to do, a long press of the button will always launch Bixby.
UPDATE: Samsung now says that phones with the One UI update will get similar options to remap the Bixby button. The Galaxy S8, S9, Note 8, and Note 9 lines will soon have this ability.
Props, Samsung.
