Sprint joined AT&T and Verizon this morning with an announcement for their upcoming Samsung 5G phone. The device, which doesn’t yet have a name or many specifics, will launch this summer as Sprint’s 5G network opens up.
The Samsung device is likely a Galaxy S10 model that supports 5G, which is what we assume AT&T and Verizon plan to launch later this year too. If that’s the case, it should be quite high-end.
As for connectivity, Sprint says this Samsung phone will offer “dual-mode” connectivity to both their LTE and 5G networks. That means connectivity over 2;5GHz spectrum, 1.9GHz spectrum (band 25), 800MHz spectrum (band 26), and other LTE bands.
Sprint’s 5G network will go live in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. later this year.
Remember, though, this Samsung phone won’t be Sprint’s first 5G phone.
