UPDATED January 17: Master & Dynamic announced the ear buds today in partnership with Louis Vuitton, calling them “consistent with the premium materials found” in their MW07 buds. That’s probably true, since they are just re-branded MW07s. Price point wasn’t announced but could be close to $1,000.
Fans of tech and excess, Louis Vuitton has a product in the works for you. Dubbed the Louis Vuitton Horizon Earphones, the company known for its handbags and iconic prints is jumping into the audio space.
The product was revealed today through an FCC filing that forgot to bury external photos. Thanks to the non-redacted device measurements, we get to see both white and black cases for these LV Horizon Earphones, cases that will double as chargers (they’ll hold two full charges too). We get to see their orange-ish exteriors, the black backings that will nestle into your ear using special “fit wings,” multiple ear tip sizes, and the USB-C charging cable.
The draft manual included notes that there is a volume rocker on the left bud, as well as a multi-function button on the right. When not playing, pausing, or skipping around tracks, that multi-function will pull up some sort of “voice assistant.” That could be full Google Assistant (doubtful) functionality or it could just let you run simple voice commands, like most headphones do these days.
Why would Louis Vuitton make earbuds, you ask? Because it’s easy to. Remember at the beginning of the year when I said that Qualcomm has an entire ready-made platform to help almost anyone easily make Bluetooth earbuds? That’s probably sort of what you are looking at here. More specifically, these are just re-branded Master & Dynamic MW07 True Wireless Earphones that have been given a new coat of paint. The FCC filing today was a “Change in Identification of Equipment” from a previous filing for those Master & Dynamic earbuds.
We have no idea on release dates or pricing, since these are only now stopping off at the FCC. With that said, the M&D earbuds I mentioned cost $299. These could be priced similarly. The reviews look good too.
