The NVIDIA SHIELD TV, even if it is almost 2 years old now (our review), is still the smart home gadget I use the most every single day. It controls my entire living room operation, from the content I consume on my TV, thanks to Android TV, to some smart home items. It’s still awesome at what I need it to do, still runs great, and is small enough that you can really tuck it out of sight if that’s your thing.

Today, probably because of some sort of Black Friday deal, the NVIDIA SHIELD TV with remote is $40 off almost everywhere. That drops the price to $139.99

Worried that it has become outdated? I’m not sure it has. Not only does the unit I have run really good, including the 2015 model I have in my bedroom, but NVIDIA keeps updating it. SHIELD TV picked up its 20th software update in September and another with Amazon Alexa integration week ago.
