Twitter is Giving You Your Timeline Back

Twitter

Twitter chronological timeline is coming back.

Twitter announced this evening that they are giving you back the chronological timeline you never told them to take away. In the near future, you’ll be able to sort your Tweets without all of the extra fluff and instead see them as they come in.

The @TwitterSupport account ran through a couple of setup Tweets before breaking the news this evening, noting that they’ve heard you loud and clear, Most Recent Tweets Only, people. In the “coming weeks,” you’ll find a toggle that lets you choose between a timeline that is most relevant and one that shows you the latest Tweets in order. This is not a joke.

Until that new toggle runs through, Twitter has tweaked the “Show the best Tweets first” toggle. When off, it now does this:

When off, you’ll only see Tweets from people you follow in reverse chronological order. Previously when turned off, you’d also see “In case you missed it” and recommended Tweets from people you don’t follow.

Be on the lookout for an update that gives you that toggle!
