For those of you who missed our write-up this morning on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform, we’ve put together this brief overview of the big talking points. Since this is a major release that could (and should) do a lot to help Wear OS and smartwatches on Android, you should catch up.
To recap, the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 is the latest in top-tier wearable chipsets from Qualcomm, but the first in over two years. It replaces the Wear 2100 and improves on not only the experience, with a new and more colorful ambient mode, but it has a big focus on battery life too. The architecture now includes an ultra-low power co-processor in addition to the quad-core chip to help expand smartwatches expand for days.
Snapdragon Wear 3100 will turn Wear OS watches into competitive sports watches too, thanks to a new sport mode, or you can just rock them as a watch watch, should the smart stuff not mean much to you.
If you haven’t been excited about Wear OS or the watches it runs on in recent years, now would be a time to watch as the first 3100 watches arrive.
