Google Assistant Now Speaks Two Languages Interchangeably

Google Home

Back in June, Google announced that Google Home could speak Spanish, a major upgrade to home assistant speakers. Today, they’ve gone well beyond just picking up a new language and have announced that Google Assistant is now bilingual. That means you can talk to Assistant in multiple languages interchangeably.

To start, Google has added bilingual language pairing for English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. They’ll add more languages in the coming months.

Google says that this new bilingual feature is a first-of-its-kind addition that is “part of [their] multi-year effort to make your conversations with Assistant more natural.”

Google Assistant’s bilingual feature starts rolling out today. While I don’t have specific instructions on how to set it up, it should work similarly to June’s Spanish addition. Heading into Google Assistant or Home apps, then More Settings>Preferences, should provide choices over language.
