You Can Now Browse the Web in VR Thanks to Daydream Support for Chrome

Maybe it’s because I’m not completely engulfed in VR news these days, but I didn’t realize Chrome wasn’t already supported by Google’s Daydream VR platform. This week, that changes, with Google making the announcement this morning that those with a Daydream View headset can now browse the Interwebz in full virtual reality.

And yes, that includes Droid Life!

Google details that anyone with a Daydream View and the Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream will have access to Chrome for VR, with the ability to browse any web page while in virtual reality. Furthermore, all of the same Chrome features you know and love are inside, including Incognito Mode, saved bookmarks, and voice search.

Additionally, the Chrome team have added in a few Daydream-specific features, such as Cinema Mode. When enabled, this will optimize web video viewing. I foresee Cinema Mode and Incognito Mode getting used heavily together with the VR crowd.

Update to the latest version of Chrome on your mobile device to get started.
