Netflix introduced Smart Downloads this week, a feature that will keep you mobile watchers happy when you’re done binging the latest episode of whatever program you’re into right now.
To explain, when Smart Downloads is enabled (and yes, you can disable it), the Netflix app will automatically download the next episode of whatever show you’re watching to your device’s storage and then remove the one you just finished from your phone. This all takes place in the background, but when connected to WiFi, you’ll see a notification on your phone to let you know Smart Downloads is in action.
Previously, any show you wanted downloaded to your phone had to be done manually. With this, the Netflix app will recognize what show you’re watching, then automatically do the work for you.
After downloading the latest update, available starting today, you’ll find Smart Downloads in the app’s Settings menu.
