Samsung ‘Galaxy Watch’ Reported to Run Wear OS, Measure Blood Pressure

Wear OS

Samsung’s next smartwatch will run Google’s Wear OS, at least according to known leaker Ice Universe. Why is that important? Because years ago, Samsung ditched Android Wear to use Tizen on all of its wearable devices after the Gear Live. For me, I’ve been waiting for Samsung’s triumphant return to Google’s wearable platform since then.

In addition to running Wear OS, it’s reported that the wearable, either called the Galaxy Watch or Gear S4, will sport a 470mAh battery, PLP (panel level package) chip to help make it more slim, new UX interactions, as well as blood pressure measurement.

For release, we’re now expecting Galaxy Watch (or Gear S4) to launch alongside Galaxy Note 9 in August. Samsung already has August 9 on our calendars for Note 9, so we could see this new watch right around that same time.

Ready for Samsung to get back into the Wear OS game?
