HTC Exodus Coming Later This Year, Powered by Blockchain

In what can be seen as an attempt to set itself apart from other Android OEMs and remain relevant in 2018, HTC is set to release a blockchain-powered Android smartphone later this year, called Exodus.

According to The Next Web, Exodus will feature a, “universal wallet and a built-in secure hardware enclave to support cryptocurrencies and decentralized applications.” What this means is that all of you cryptotraders will have no problems managing your “money” and accessing it via all sorts of avenues.

Not only that, but the company also reportedly plans to create its own native blockchain network with all Exodus devices to act as nodes to facilitate crypto trading among users. If that doesn’t get you Mr. Robot fanboys going, I don’t know what will.

Here’s what Phil Chen, HTC’s lead on this project, said about Exodus.

Through Exodus, we are excited to be supporting underlying protocols such as Bitcoin, Lightning Networks, Ethereum, Dfinity, and more. We would like to support the entire blockchain ecosystem, and in the next few months we’ll be announcing many more exciting partnerships together.

It’s reported that HTC is pondering the idea to accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment for the device, but no price has been set. Honestly, I would find it extremely paradoxical if HTC didn’t accept cryptocurrency for its blockchain-powered phone.

Exodus is expected in October. Thoughts?
