Google’s Pixel Buds Get Track Skipping, Better Bluetooth Device Switching

We didn’t like the Pixel Buds in our review of them last year, thanks to a confusing Assistant experience, weird charging case, one-fit-for-all sizing, single Bluetooth connection, and the lack of controls like the ability to skip a track without voice. Today, Google begins rolling out an update to address a couple of those things.

The first change is an adjustment to the tapping actions you can perform. You can now manually turn on or off your Pixel Buds by triple-tapping on the right earbud. Additionally, if listening to music, you can change the double-tap to allow you to skip tracks (thank, God!) instead of checking for notifications.

Finally, Google has made it easier to switch between Bluetooth devices. For example, if you want to jump from your phone to computer, all you have to do is head into the Bluetooth menu on the device you want to connect to and choose the Pixel Buds. It will then switch devices to the new one.

Google says that this update is rolling out today and should hit everyone by next week.
