Earlier this week, Philips announced a major update that will soon roll out to the Hue app on Android and iOS. Inside, Philips details new features, as well as changes to existing features.
Inside its blog post, Philips mentions an improved navigation experience thanks to a completely overhauled look inside of the app. With just a few taps, users will be able to adjust their smart lighting, regardless of whether you want to change your brightness or colors.
The app update will offer new color pickers, too, allowing you to group and ungroup lights in a room, as well as easily choose an exact shade of white or colored light from the palette selected.
Lastly, Philips announced that it is adding 30 new lighting scenes into the app, “handpicked from our lighting designers.” A few examples include London’s Soho district, a Honolulu sunset, plus plenty more. Interestingly, Philips says the update has a feature that can pull colors from your favorite photo, then create a new scene based on that. As they detail, “The app extracts the relevant colors from your favorite pictures and intelligently applies them to your lights, bringing your pictures to life.
Philips mentions this update will ship this month, so be on the lookout. If you see it rolling out, let us know.
