Google announced a massive update for Google News at I/O this morning, one that incorporates plenty of AI to bring the best of the news straight to your Android device.

Set to replace the existing Google News and Weather app on your phone, the new Google News utilizes AI to “find the best of human intelligence,” which is just fancy words for the news stories you care about. More specifically, Google says the new app is powered by a set of AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning) techniques which synthesizes and organizes information in real time.

For features, there is a new daily briefing that is personalized based on topics and interests you select, plus a Full Coverage button allows you to dive deep into a story from within the app. Additionally, users can subscribe to whatever publisher they want and you can access your subscriptions via the web or on mobile.

Google’s video that we’ve embedded above goes over all of the important details, so give it a watch.

The new Google News replaces the existing Google News and Weather app on mobile, so keep your eye on the link below for when the update goes live this week.
