Verizon’s open enrollment period for protection plans is back again, giving you the chance to sign-up for phone protection if you chose not to do so at the time of purchase. You can choose from any of their plans too, not just the most expensive option, Total Mobile Protection.
Why would you sign-up for phone protection now? Maybe you realized that you are much more clumsy than originally thought. Maybe you learned the hard way and dropped a phone that broke without protection and had to pay full price for a new one? There are many factors, but no matter what your situation, now is the time to get signed-up if interested.
From Verizon you have a number of options:
- Extended Warranty ($3/mo): This simply extends the warranty that comes with your phone to cover defects. It doesn’t cover for drop or loss, that sort of thing, so it’s limited in scope.
- Wireless Phone Protection ($6.75/mo): WPP does cover for lost, stolen, or damaged phones up to 3 times per year with deductible paid.
- Total Equipment Coverage ($9/mo). TEC is the same as Wireless Phone Protection, only it includes the Extended Warranty too.
- Total Mobile Protection ($13/mo) You should probably ignore TMP unless you need a tech coach (lol) or are considering covering a ton of devices. Seriously, it’s just TEC with a coach.
