Verizon Galaxy S8, S8+ Oreo Update Rolling Out Now! (Updated)

verizon galaxy s8 update

Whoa, we’ve got an Oreo update rolling out in the US to a Samsung phone – I almost can’t believe it. Verizon folks who own the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ should check for an update to see if they can pull it.

We’ve heard from two readers who both were pushed the update earlier today, at almost the same time. The build for the Galaxy S8+ is arriving as G955USQU2CRB9. The new software for the Galaxy S8 will be G950USQU2CRB9. The update for both phones includes the Samsung Experience version 9.0 and February’s security patch, as well as Oreo’s picture-in-picture and autofill features.

I should point out that we’ve asked a handful of other Verizon Galaxy S8 owners and most aren’t seeing an update available. This could be a slower-than-usual rollout from Big Red and Samsung.

UPDATE: We’ve got more info! Verizon has now posted the details for each phone’s update and dated the update as rolling out on March 15 (today!). We’ve updated this post some, but for the full list of changes, hit those links at the bottom of this post.

If you own a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ on Verizon, head into Settings>System update.
