Best Buy slipped up a bit last week when it posted “December 11” as the launch date for Google Home Max, a date that even Google had yet to officially reveal. Tonight, though, Best Buy followed through and has made Google Home Max available for purchase. (UPDATE: Other retailers have it up too.)
You can currently purchase Google Home Max in both Chalk or Charcoal colorways, each of which will run you $399.00.
To recap, Google Home Max was first introduced at Google’s October 4 hardware event alongside the Pixel 2, Google Home Mini, the Pixelbook, Pixel Buds, etc. Google is pushing it as a high-end speaker that can compete with the likes of Sonos, yet also has Google Assistant on board.
Google Home Max sports dual 4.5″ woofers, custom tweeters, and “Smart Sound,” that tries to self-tune the speaker depending on your room and where you’ve placed it. It includes a 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C port, mic switch, and can be placed vertically or horizontally. You can pair it with another Max, group with other Home units for multi-room audio, and of course, talk to it and the Assistant to set reminders, get the weather, order stuff, and control your smart home.
Who wants one?
