Samsung Introduces New Fitness Products: Gear Sport Watch, Gear Fit2 Pro, and Icon X Buds

Samsung kicked off IFA this morning by announcing a new range of fitness wearable devices, including a new Gear smartwatch, Gear Fit2 band, and updated Icon X earbuds. All products are nice upgrades over previous generations, so let’s dive into what’s new.

Gear Sport

The headliner of the bunch of obviously the new Samsung Gear Sport, the company’s latest smartwatch with fitness features. It has 5 ATM water resistance with swim tracking, improved heart-rate monitoring, auto activity detection, and support with a bunch of fitness apps, like UA Record, MyFitnessPal, MapMyRun, and Endomondo.

For specs, the watch features a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display (360×360, 302ppi), 20mm strap width, dual core processor, 4GB storage, 768MB RAM, NFC for mobile payments over Samsung Pay, and a 300mAh battery that should last up to 4 days on a single charge. The Gear Sport will arrive in black or blue models (pictured above).

Samsung didn’t give pricing or availability.

Gear Fit2 Pro

The Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is the newest fitness band that improves on the original Gear Fit2, a wearable I actually found to be one of the better options, especially at its reasonable price. With this new Fit2 Pro, you’ve got 5 ATM water resistance with swim tracking, along with built-in GPS, 1.5-inch curved Super AMOLED display, dual core processor, 4GB storage, 512MB RAM, 200mAh battery, and small or large sizes to fit anyone’s wrist.

The new Gear Fit2 Pro heads for pre-orders tomorrow, August 31, and arrives in stores on September 15. You’ll find it for $199.99 at places like Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, and Samsung’s own shop.

Gear Icon X

Finally, the new Gear Icon X earbuds feature an updated design that should be more ergonomic on the ears, plus you still get the automatic tracking of running activities. Battery life should also be improved and now reach up to 5 hours of streaming or up to 6 hours of standalone music playing. The new Gear Icon X provide 4GB of storage.

Samsung, like with the Gear Sport, didn’t mention pricing or availability.
