Nest announced its new thermostat this evening, the Nest Thermostat E. This is the Nest Thermostat that leaked in image form a couple of weeks ago and was thought to be the company’s less-expensive model. As it turns out, that’s exactly what this is.
The Nest Thermostat E costs just $169 and has been given a fresh look over the original Nest Thermostat. Like the original, it can be controlled with your smartphone from anywhere and includes the smart features you need, but rather than standing out on your wall, this Thermostat E tries to blend in a bit more through a white body and frosted display.
You still get the automatic turn-off when you are away, scheduling (including a pre-set schedule out of the box), support with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, alerts when your heating or cooling systems need attention, and easy installation (for most people). Nest says that this new Thermostat E could save you as much as $131 to $145 per year in energy costs, which basically pays for the unit right away.
