Skype Adds PayPal Integration, Lets You Make Payments While Chatting

Skype and PayPal announced today that they have teamed up to allow easy, in-the-moment payments between Skype users. Should you be on a Skype call or in a chat and need to send over some cash, you can now do that using your PayPal account without ever leaving Skype.

Skype says that you’ll simply swipe right and then tap “Send Money” to go through the process. Of course, you’ll need to attach your PayPal account, but that should be simple do and may only require a quick sign-in. You can see the payment action in the GIF below, for those still confused.

The rollout for Skype-PayPal integration starts today for users in United States, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. You’ll need the newest version of Skype in order to get going. Be on the lookout for that fresh, fresh update.

On a related note, I can’t help but applaud PayPal for all of their recent announcements surrounding mobile payments and integrations with other apps. As one of the internet’s pioneers in this area, they sure took a long time jumping onto platforms like Android Pay and Samsung Pay. But here we are with not only those supported, but Skype as well.
