HTC Teases “360 Real-Life Recording” on U 11

htc 10 update

HTC posted a tweet this morning, teasing “360 real-life recording,” followed by the hashtag #BrilliantU and the May 16 unveiling date for the U 11. By putting the pieces together, we’re assuming the U 11 will be capable of 360-degree video, which is quite exciting.

Essentially, any smartphone with capable cameras should be able to produce 360-degree video and photos, so long as the software is packed in. For video that isn’t a blurry and pixelated mess, you’ll need some good sensors, and the U 11 is reported to come with a 12MP f/1.7 sensor with UltraPixel 3 on the back, plus a 16MP sensor on the front. These should be quite capable in terms of resolution.

May 16 is right around the corner, next Tuesday to be exact. We’ll find out everything we need to know at that point. It’s also Google I/O that week, so be prepared for a busy few days.
