Samsung Pushes Update to Gear S3, Offers Enhanced UI and Workout Features

gear s3 frontier update

An update is rolling out from Samsung for the Gear S3, with mention that one is also available for the Gear S2. Samsung labels it as a “comprehensive value pack” update, and honestly, I have no idea what that means.

Samsung does list quite a few changes, such as sweet looking colorized graphs for post workout information. These graphs will detail heart rate zones, as well as heart rate ranges. Additionally, a new Stretching guide is activated after 50 minutes of inactivity and uses a counting sound to guide users through the activity.

Accessibility has also been revamped on the Gear S3, offering more control over S3’s display. For example, after activating “Direct access” inside of the Accessibility menu, you can enable “readability-focused” screen options, such as Dark Screen, Greyscale, and Negative Colors. Folks worried about losing their S3 can also use a Find My Gear function from the Gear Manger app. This function, “allows users to lock their lost device remotely to prevent unauthorized use, users may add personal contact information, such as an email address or phone number, to display on the smartwatch’s lock screen.”

For this update, head into the Samsung Gear app and check for the it.
