Each year for April Fools’ Day, Google enjoys announcing fake products. Provided the company has what seems to be an unlimited budget for creating these silly, non existent products, they are always coupled with announcement posts and even product videos.
Thinking back a few years, I can recall one of my favorites, Gmail Tap. The idea behind Gmail Tap is pretty basic – replace your standard keyboard with Tap, a keyboard with two buttons. There’s a button for a dot and a button for a dash (Morse Code).
In theory, it’s a lovely idea, but what sends it over the top is the concept of having two of the Tap keyboards working simultaneously, allowing for twice the amount of input at any given time. I’m not sure how much training you would need in order to make this keyboard actually useful, but my guess is quite a bit.
All jokes aside, I’d probably use Gmail Tap before I try 8Pen again.
