The original Huawei Watch is still one of our favorite Android Wear watches of all time. It features a classic design, gorgeous display, and enough different variants to fit most of our fashion needs. It also happens to be a part of the Android Wear developer preview program, which is a bonus. But even though we still find ourselves happy with the original, I think it’s safe to say that we all want a follow-up.
According to a report out of Venturebeat, we may have a follow-up by Mobile World Congress in a month.
The report claims that Huawei hopes to show off a new Huawei Watch at the mobile-focused event in Barcelona, though the timing of an unveiling is not yet set in stone. The watch will feature a “sportier” look than the original, feature a 42mm case, 1.4-inch display, and either leather or stainless steel straps. Additionally, two models may be available – one with cellular connectivity and one without. The cellular connected version would likely work with your favorite carrier of choice to give you access to calls, texts, etc. while away from your phone.
Today’s report also suggests that this will be an Android Wear device, even though rumors swirled last year suggesting that Huawei may have been looking at Samsung’s Tizen as an alternative for wearables. Honestly, I don’t know that any of us bought into the idea that Huawei would ditch Android Wear for Tizen. Or maybe that’s just me.
How does a Huawei Watch 2 sound?
