Introduced back in August, the Gear S3 smartwatch from Samsung finally had its US availability announced this morning, with pre-orders set to begin on November 6. For those interested in getting a bit of hands-on time before ordering, general availability is scheduled for November 18.
The Gear S3 comes in two models, the Frontier and Classic, both featuring a 1.3″ Super AMOLED display with Always-On technology and Gorilla Glass’s new Glass SR+ protection. Other specs include a dual-core 1GHz processor, Tizen wearable OS 2.3.2, 4GB of internal storage, and 768MB of RAM. The Gear S3 also features IP68 water and dust resistance.
Currently, Samsung advertises the watch having 4-day battery life, all coming from a 380mAh built-in battery. On the connectivity side, the Frontier features LTE for taking calls, while the Classic does not. However, both feature NFC and MST for Samsung Pay compatibility.
Starting at $350, the Gear S3 will be available at Best Buy, Amazon, Macy’s and Samsung’s website, plus a few carrier stores.
