We hope you didn’t grow too attached to the Google Cast rebranding for the Chromecast app, as it is now going through yet another branding change. In a new update that will soon hit all users, the app’s name has been changed to Google Home, cementing its purpose as the go-to application for users of Google Cast and the soon-to-be-available Google Home device.
Upon opening, the app has gone through a few cosmetic changes, complete with FAB and nicely decorated navigation drawer. From the drawer, users can access their devices, account preferences, offers limited to select device owners, and find instructions on how to cast things. You will also find countless suggestions on consumable content from sources like YouTube, Netflix, and Google Play Movies.
Once the update is available for all, you will see it pop up in Google Play. If you used the Google Cast app or have a Google Home device pre-ordered, be sure to be on the lookout for it.
If waiting isn’t your style, an APK file does appear to be floating around.
