The oft-leaked Hasselblad camera Moto Mod for the Moto Z family is now official. Known as the Hasselblad True Zoom, this is a Moto Mod for those who want just a bit more in the camera department while on the go and with smartphone in pocket.

Priced at $249.99 at Verizon stores (or $299.99 at Motorola’s shop), the Hasselblad True Zoom arrives on September 15, but can be pre-ordered as early as September 8. It will work with the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and newly introduced Moto Z Play

Why buy the Hasselblad True Zoom? It comes with a 10x optical zoom, for one. That could be handy if you don’t want to carry a point-and-shoot camera around and also need a zoom functionality outside of the digital zoom your phone provides. You are also getting the Hasselblad imaging experience, which should be a good thing, knowing the history of this company, a Xenon flash, and special Hasselblad camera options like RAW format. Oh, this Mod, since it’s basically a point and shoot that attaches to your phone, does provide better ergonomics and that more traditional camera shooting feel.

As for specs, the Hasselblad True Zoom features a 12MP camera (BSI CMOS, 1/2.3inch sensor, 1.55um, f3.5-6.5), shoots 1080p video (30fps), and has OIS and EIS. It doesn’t feature a battery, so that means it utilizes your phone for power and storage. To view the full specs, tap this link.

Should you buy this? That’s a tough call, but to see our first look at it, hit up the video below or head to this post.
