Details shared via HTC’s Twitter account this morning states that the company expects to provide a Nougat update for the HTC 10 during Q4 of this year. More specifically, HTC hopes to update the unlocked HTC 10, followed by updates for the unlocked One M9 and unlocked One A9 to Android 7.0. Then, if all goes well, we can expect to see updates for carrier models, but no timeframe was provided.
With exception to LG’s V20, which will be the first device to run Nougat out of the box, HTC appears to be the second OEM to provide any type of word on when customers can expect Nougat. A Samsung executive recently stated that the Galaxy Note 7 may receive Nougat in 2-3 months, but there was no guarantee if the company would be able to deliver that quickly.
To sum it up, if you have an unlocked HTC 10, you can expect Nougat relatively soon, followed by the unlocked One M9 and One A9. If you run a carrier model for one of those phones, you will probably be waiting just a bit longer.
We will keep you posted if more details are made available.
